The efforts of the government to improve Australian wages are finally “bearing fruit,” based on the data from the latest wage growth analysis as confirmed by Treasurer Jim Chalmers.

Compared to the last 15 years, the Treasurer says that Australia has recorded the fastest annual wage growth.

In an interview, the Treasurer confirmed, “What these figures from the Treasury show today is that our efforts on the minimum wage, or when it comes to wages in the care economy, are bearing fruit.”

“What’s perhaps most encouraging about this new Treasury analysis is that there is more growth in the lower-income parts of the income ladder.

“So overall wages were growing about 4% in this period, but substantially higher than that for the first two runs of the income ladder—that’s a good thing.”
