A 'significant slowdown’ in Australia’s economic growth is anticipated

The forecast for economic growth is predicted to be weak before the official gross domestic product, or GDP, for the fourth quarter of 2023 is released on Wednesday.

In an interview with Sky News Australia, Shadow Finance Minister Jane Hume revealed that “We’re already in a per capita recession.”

“If it wasn’t for the fact that we had excessively high migration numbers, we would already be seeing economic growth going backward.“

“If you listen to the economists out there, they are expecting a significant slowdown in our economic growth—that’s not unexpected.“

“When the pie gets smaller, all that happens is that governments slice it differently, rather than growing the pie.”
